Baku: 'Housing provision is not merely a social issue. This problem does not emerge from a single factor," Anar Guliyev, Chairman of the State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture, stated at the event titled 'Advancing Housing Through Multilateralism: From Global Commitments to Local Impact' held within the framework of WUF13, APA reports.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Guliyev emphasized the necessity of finding solutions due to the scale and complexity of the challenges faced in housing provision. He noted that urban planning and migration are occurring at an accelerated pace, leading to the expansion of informal settlements. Guliyev highlighted the critical role of multilateral cooperation, underscoring the importance of experiences from different regions. He stressed that governance needs improvement and that development banks, the private sector, and NGOs should be actively involved in addressing the issue.

Guliyev pointed out that financing remains one of the most significant challenges in this area, advocating for innovative financing mechanisms as essential tools. He called for an integrated plan to ensure sustainable housing provision, emphasizing the importance of improving living standards. He cited the reconstruction and restoration works in the liberated territories as exemplary models of successful housing provision initiatives.
