Conference: Return to Karabakh

Although a year has passed since the end of the 44-day Karabakh war, uncertainty regarding the return of internally displaced persons to the liberated lands remains. This raises questions in society, causes concern among internally displaced persons. A group of public and political figures moderated by the chairman of the ADR party, Professor Gubad Ibadoglu held a closed online conference and exchanged views on the issue of returning to Karabakh.

The conference was attended by Director of the Turan News Agency Mehman Aliyev, political scientist Nasimi Mammadli, lawyer Farhad Mehdiyev, publicist writer Vahid Gazi, political commentator Hagani Jafarli, economist Ghalib Togrul, public figure Elkhan Nur Gubatli and political activist Ilkin Rustamzade.

The conference participants expressed concern that a slow return to Karabakh would cause political and humanitarian problems, stressed the need to ensure transparency of construction and installation work carried out in the liberated territories. Noting the groundlessness of insinuations about the desire of internally displaced persons to return to their native lands, the conference participants drew attention to the importance of ensuring the property rights of internally displaced persons.
