Constitutional Court Hosts Meeting with OIC Delegation

Baku: Chairman of the Constitutional Court Farhad Abdullayev received a delegation led by Hadi Bin Ali Al-Alyami, head of the Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, on June 17. Farhad Abdullayev provided detailed information about the reforms being implemented in the country aimed at protecting human rights and freedoms, ensuring the rule of law, and strengthening democratic institutions. He also emphasized the importance of cooperation with constitutional courts of various countries within the framework of the Conference of Constitutional Jurisdictions of the Islamic World, which encompasses OIC member states.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the chairman discussed the activities of the Constitutional Court in human rights protection and the efforts to develop constitutional justice. He noted the effective cooperation between the Constitutional Court and the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) in ensuring constitutional rights.

Hadi Bin Ali Al-Alyami praised Azerbaijan's achievements in human rights protection, the establishment of a state governed by the rule of law, and improvements in the judicial and legal system. He highlighted the significance of international cooperation in promoting and protecting human rights and stressed the necessity to expand experience exchange and mutual cooperation in this area.

The meeting included extensive discussions on human rights protection, legal awareness, contemporary challenges of international law, and prospects for future cooperation. Both parties expressed confidence in the further development of cooperation in the future.
