Construction of a new metro station has begun in Baku

The construction of the B-04 station of the Baku Metro on the “Purple Line” on Jalil Mammadguluzadeh Street, behind the Sports and Concert Complex named after Heydar Aliyev, has begun.

Baku Metro CJSC told AZERTAC that, as at the Memar Ajami and November 8 stations of the Purple Line, the construction was carried out using the Ground Wall method. This method is not only environmentally friendly, but also allows for efficient construction in a limited space, as well as savings.

In accordance with the requirements of this method, monolithic reinforced concrete panels of “soil on the wall” were installed before the construction work. In the past period, the construction of two tunnels with a length of 1010 and 1021 meters was completed.

The total length of the station complex is 170 meters and consists of three construction zones. As the first stage of construction, the ground was leveled in the area. In the first zone, construction work has begun and the reinforcement-carcass elements of the roof are being assembled. Part of it is already concreted.

The depth of the station is 29-32 meters, depending on the terrain. This complex will consist of 4 levels. There will be a cash register and a lobby on the upper level. The second is the transition or technical level. The third level will be the level of transition to the platform. At the level of the platform there will be a station track and a waiting room where trains will run. The platform is designed for 7-car trains, as well as other stations of the Purple Line. The lower part of the 144-meter-long platform is intended for technical installations.

The 4 entrances and exits of the station will provide a comfortable and safe passage on both sides of the highway in the above-ground area. The new station will also be equipped with escalators and stairs to move from level to level. Like other stations on the line, elevators will be installed here to lower wheelchairs to the station.

At present, the 27th metro station will be located in the electric depot of the Purple Line under construction in Khojasan settlement. B-04 station will be the 28th metro station.
