Aghdam: The construction of the Aghdam bus and railway station complex is nearing completion, Tural Abbasli, Advisor to the Chairman of ‘Azerbaijan Railways’ CJSC (ADY) and Head of the Construction Project Management Department, revealed during the National Business Development Forum.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Abbasli mentioned that the construction is expected to be fully completed by the beginning of next month. This development is a collaborative effort with the Azerbaijan Land Transport Agency, aiming to facilitate intercity and inter-district routes and to establish a fully operational railway station.
Abbasli further disclosed that the design work for the Aghdam-Khankendi railway line has commenced, with plans to initiate construction work within this year. A contractor has already been selected, and mobilization activities are currently ongoing. The new railway line, measuring approximately 27-28 km, will connect Aghdam to Khankendi. The design primarily follows the existing corridor, which originally opened in 1979. The location of the Khankendi station has been adjusted slightly, bringing it closer to the city itself.
