Coordination Headquarters Discusses Integration of Liberated Territories in Aghdara

Aghdara: A regular meeting of the Coordination Headquarters for the centralized resolution of issues in the liberated territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan was held on June 17 in Aghdara, chaired by Samir Nuriyev, Head of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Head of the Coordination Headquarters.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Samir Nuriyev highlighted that the policy under President Ilham Aliyev's leadership serves as the foundation for the country's comprehensive development. He stressed that recent strategic documents, state programs, and reforms across various sectors, including agriculture, reinforce the nation's socio-economic growth through a unified approach.

The Great Return process was underscored as a crucial component of the national development strategy, aiming for the full integration of liberated territories into Azerbaijan's economic, social, and institutional systems. Significant reconstruction and restoration efforts have led to essential infrastructure development in these areas. The current focus is on ensuring sustainable economic development based on this infrastructure and bolstering the economic and social foundations for resettlement.

The First State Program on the Great Return is nearing its conclusion, with intensive preparation underway for the Second State Program on the Great Return. Samir Nuriyev emphasized the agricultural potential of the liberated territories in ensuring the Great Return process's economic sustainability. Efficient land and water resource use, agricultural production expansion, production and processing opportunities creation, and sustainable employment in agriculture are key upcoming tasks.

Coordinating activities under the Great Return with measures from the State Program for the Development of Agricultural, Fisheries, and Aquaculture Production and Processing Sectors in Azerbaijan for 2026-2030 is crucial. Sustainable resettlement in liberated territories depends on employment, job creation, and expanding economic activity opportunities. Efforts to increase employment in various sectors, develop professional skills, support entrepreneurial initiatives, and enhance economic activity are vital.

Environmental sustainability and water resource management were also discussed. Efficient natural resource use, ecosystem restoration, and land resource protection are essential for long-term development. Restoring water infrastructure and modern water resource management are key priorities.

Reports on efficient agricultural land use, employment promotion, environmental sustainability enhancement, and water resource management in liberated territories were presented. Participants were reminded of the importance of accelerating liberated territories' integration into the country's socio-economic development, ensuring the Great Return's sustainability, and improving population welfare following President Ilham Aliyev's strategic goals.

Participants reviewed Aghdara's Master Plan, agricultural and industrial projects in Aghdara and Khojaly districts, and projects contributing to the region's socio-economic development. Visits to Frutti Agro LLC's intensive fruit orchard, the Demirli Ore Processing Complex, and Dashbulag's mulberry orchard highlighted the agricultural and industrial sectors' role in expanding economic activity, job creation, entrepreneurship development, and strengthening the Great Return process's economic foundations.
