COP29 Azerbaijan Operating Company and UNFCCC Begin Technical Testing Phase

BAKU — Preparations for the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), scheduled for November in Baku, are advancing as the COP29 Azerbaijan Operating Company initiates a technical testing phase.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, this phase, known as the Proof of Concept (PoC), began on August 19th at Baku Stadium, the designated venue for COP29. The testing involves representatives from both the COP29 Azerbaijan Operating Company and the UNFCCC. On the initial day, UNFCCC representatives were introduced to the current infrastructure, including visits to two data centers and the aggregation and communication rooms.

Over the next three weeks, the PoC phase will evaluate the security, functionality, and efficiency of the ICT systems planned for use during COP29. This includes verifying the security of ICT and wireless network services, simulating accreditation process tests, and conducting cybersecurity assessments. These evaluations are crucial for identifying and mitigating potential risks, ensuring a seamless and uninterrupted experience during the event.

Partner and contractor companies working at the event venue are also participating in the PoC phase. Upon completion of the three-week testing period, the ICT infrastructure for COP29 will undergo final approval, leading to the full implementation of the systems.
