COP29 Azerbaijan Presidency Holds Detailed Briefing for Diplomatic Corps


BAKU — The COP29 Azerbaijan Operating Company hosted its second briefing for the diplomatic corps accredited in Azerbaijan, detailing extensive preparations for the upcoming COP29 climate conference in Baku.



According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the briefing, held on September 6th, included Narmin Jarchalova, Chair of the COP29 Azerbaijan Operating Company and Chief Operating Officer, and Deputy Chief of the Protocol Service of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ramin Taghiyev. Key international figures such as Wasim Mir, Director of Conference Affairs at UNFCCC, and Chief Kevin O’Hanlon of the UN Department of Safety and Security also attended.



The session provided a comprehensive overview of the event’s logistics, including the establishment of designated zones within Baku Stadium, where the conference will be hosted. Jarchalova outlined the operational details of the Blue Zone, designated for official events, and the Green Zone, aimed at fostering dialogue among stakeholders on innovative climate solutions. The preparations, she noted, are on track with the schedule.



Additional details were shared regarding logistical arrangements to facilitate smooth participation at COP29. These include the introduction of a special visa service for COP29, media accreditation, registration of radio-electronic devices, and facilities reservation within the Green Zone. The briefing also covered transportation, accommodation, and catering services designed to accommodate the needs of the thousands of international delegates expected.



Taghiyev addressed protocol matters related to the reception, accommodation, and transportation of VIPs and official delegations attending the World Climate Action Summit, which will coincide with COP29. He detailed the operational protocols for Heydar Aliyev International Airport, transport arrangements in the city, and the summit’s agenda.



The event concluded with a live Q&A session, allowing both in-person and online participants to engage directly with the organizers on various topics of interest.
