Bel©m: Nigar Arpadarai, MP and UN Climate Change High-Level Champion for COP29 Azerbaijan, attended the parliamentary meeting held as part of the COP30 in the Brazilian city of Bel©m.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the event was co-organized by the Brazilian Parliament and the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU). This year’s IPU parliamentary meeting serves as a key COP platform for national parliaments and aims to strengthen the legislative role in combating global climate change and identifying shared solutions.

The UN Climate Change High-Level Champion for COP29 took part in a panel discussion on ‘Strengthening parliamentary activities for the implementation of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs)’. During the discussion, she shared her views on the historical significance of the outcomes of COP29, which was hosted by Baku last year. She also emphasized the importance of enhancing parliamentary activities in the fight against climate change.
