Baku: The appeal filed against the extension of the pre-trial detention measure chosen for Editor-in-Chief Vugar Mammadov, who was detained during an operation carried out by the State Security Service (SSS) at Hurriyyat newspaper and Hurriyyat TV, has been reviewed, APA reports. A decision was announced at the hearing held at the Baku Court of Appeal under the chairmanship of Judge Anar Ibrahimov.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the ruling stated that the appeal was not upheld. Vugar Mammadov was initially detained on October 29 of the previous year as a result of the SSS operation at 'Hurriyyet' newspaper and 'Hurriyyet TV.' By court decision, a pre-trial detention measure of 3 months and 13 days was imposed on him. On February 9 of the current year, his detention period was extended by another three months.
