Baku: A court hearing was held at the Sabail District Court of Baku City regarding the selection of a preventive detention measure against Ramil Ramiz Aliyev, born in 1991, and Ismayil Buludkhan Hasanov, born in 1974, within the framework of a criminal case under investigation by the State Security Service (SSS), APA reports.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the case materials revealed that the two individuals were involved in various criminal acts both abroad and within the Republic of Azerbaijan. These acts were identified through operational-search measures conducted by the State Security Service, leading to their detention and subsequent investigation.

The investigation established that Aliyev and Hasanov had been previously convicted of intentional murder and other serious crimes in a foreign country. While serving their sentences, they were reportedly recruited by Yevgeny Prigozhin, the former head of the Wagner armed group, to partake in military operations in exchange for monetary compensation.

Both individuals allegedly participated in training and combat operations across different countries, utilizing firearms and explosives. They are also accused of encouraging other Azerbaijani citizens to partake in similar activities abroad. The ongoing investigation seeks to uncover further criminal acts committed against both Azerbaijani and foreign nationals.

Following the court hearing, a preventive measure of 4-month detention has been imposed on Ramil Aliyev and Ismayil Hasanov as the investigation proceeds.
