Shusha: President Ilham Aliyev has approved amendments to the Law "On the Cultural Capital of Azerbaijan - the City of Shusha," APA reports. According to the law, the damage or destruction of monuments within the territory of Shusha is prohibited, as is their relocation without the approval of the designated authority. Construction, installation, restoration, reconstruction, conservation works, or landscaping activities that could threaten the integrity of these monuments are also not allowed.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the decree signed by President Ilham Aliyev on the implementation of the law includes amendments to the Charter of the Shusha State Reserve Administration. These amendments grant the Reserve the authority to approve the relocation of state-protected cultural assets, including monuments, as well as any construction, installation, restoration, reconstruction, conservation works, or landscaping activities within the relevant territory.
The law aims to preserve the cultural heritage of Shusha, ensuring that any activities affecting its monuments are carefully regulated to prevent potential harm. This move underscores the importance placed on maintaining the integrity of Shusha's historical and cultural landmarks, reinforcing its status as Azerbaijan's cultural capital.
