Baku: A delegation from the Republic of Trkiye's National Defense University (NDU), led by Major General Burhan Aktas, Deputy Rector of the University, is visiting Azerbaijan. The delegation includes senior staff and faculty members from the Land Forces, Air Force, and Naval Forces academies, as well as participants of the "Staff Management Course" conducted at these institutions, the Ministry of Defense told APA.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the visit began with a tribute at the Alley of Honor, where the delegation paid their respects to the graves of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and renowned ophthalmologist-scientist, academician Zarifa Aliyeva. The delegation also visited the Alley of Martyrs and the Turkish Martyrs' Cemetery, laying flowers and honoring the memory of the fallen.
As part of the visit agenda, the delegation met with First Deputy Minister of Defense and Chief of the General Staff of the Azerbaijan Army, Colonel General Karim Valiyev. During the meeting, Colonel General Valiyev highlighted the strong relationship between Azerbaijan and Trkiye, emphasizing the significant role these ties play in advancing military education.
The discussions underscored the importance of expanding mutual exchanges to enhance the professional knowledge and skills of military personnel from both nations. Major General B. Aktas expressed gratitude for the warm reception, noting the importance of such visits in further developing bilateral relations.
The meeting also focused on ongoing initiatives and future plans to expand cooperation in military education. Both sides engaged in a comprehensive exchange of views on joint projects for training professional personnel and other topics of mutual interest.
