Delegation of Azerbaijan’s Chamber of Accounts Suggests Changes to ASOSAI Draft Guidelines

Nanjing: An Azerbaijani delegation led by Javid Bayramov, Auditor of the Chamber of Accounts, participated in the 2nd Annual Meeting of the ASOSAI Working Group on the Audit of State-Owned Enterprises (WGSOEA) held in Nanjing, China.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the Chamber of Accounts reported that the meeting gathered 34 representatives from the Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) of 12 countries. Apart from Malaysia, which acted as the Secretariat, and China, which hosted the event, there were participants from countries including Trkiye, Indonesia, India, and Georgia.

The primary focus of the event was to exchange views on and refine the draft ASOSAI Guidelines on the Audit of State-Owned Enterprises. Additionally, the draft Work Plan for 2025-2029 was discussed. During discussions, both in general sessions and within four sub-working groups, the Azerbaijani delegation proposed specific amendments and additions to the document's provisions. It was agreed that these suggestions would be reviewed by the Working Group Secretariat, with ongoing discussions leading to the document's final approval set for 2027.

Moreover, the meeting outlined the key directions and implementation schedule of the WGSOEA Work Plan for 2025-2029. A major priority emphasized was the enhancement of the draft Guidelines to boost their practical relevance for the SAIs of member countries.

The agenda also included the inclusion of the Supreme Audit Institutions of Uzbekistan and Bahrain as new members of the Working Group.
