Deputy Minister Announces Establishment of New Grain Silos in Azerbaijan

Ismayilli: Additional grain silos with a total capacity of 150,000 tons are planned to be established in Azerbaijan, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Ilhama Gadimova announced at a regional meeting for the Mountainous Shirvan economic region. This initiative is part of the 'State Program on the Development of Production and Processing Sectors of Agricultural, Fisheries and Aquaculture Products in the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2026-2030.'

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the State Program includes the preparation and implementation of support mechanisms for constructing these additional grain silos. A 40% discount on equipment costs and interest rate subsidies covering 40-50% of loan rates will be applied within this framework, aiming to facilitate the process for stakeholders.

Gadimova emphasized the importance of not only increasing production but also ensuring proper storage and marketing of agricultural products. She highlighted that limited storage capacity currently forces farmers to sell their products immediately, often at lower prices, which adversely affects their incomes.

The deputy minister further explained that the establishment of grain silos is expected to reduce product losses, improve storage conditions, and enhance food security in the region.
