Kars: Construction work on the Kars-Igdir-Nakhchivan railway project is ongoing, said Zamin Aliyev, Azerbaijan's Consul General in Kars, APA's Trkiye bureau reports.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Kilittas construction site has been established within the framework of the Kars-Igdir-Aralik-Dilucu high-standard railway project. The Consul General stated that a total of 1,500 people are currently working in the construction sector.
The project envisages the construction of five tunnels with a total length of 11.5 km and five stations in Digor, Tuzluca, Igdir, Aralik, and Dilucu. Additionally, 23 overpasses and four viaducts with a total length of 6,842 meters will be built. The maximum speed of the trains will reach 160 kilometers per hour. A 24,000-kilovolt voltage will be applied on the lines, and six transformers are planned to be installed for this purpose.
The consul general also noted that the construction is planned to be completed on September 24, 2029.
