Diamonds Worth Over AZN 4 Million Seized from Kazakh Citizen at Airport

Baku:Employees of the Main Customs Department for Air Transport have intercepted a significant quantity of diamond stones hidden from customs control, according to a report by the State Customs Committee.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, a citizen of Kazakhstan arrived in the country on a Sharjah-Baku flight and attempted to bypass customs inspection by using the 'Green Channel' clearance system. However, the individual's behavior aroused the suspicion of customs officers.

As a result, the passenger was directed to the 'Red Channel' for a thorough customs inspection. During this process, authorities discovered 2,502.524 carats of undeclared diamond stones concealed on the person. The value of these diamonds was estimated at more than AZN 4 million.
