Digital Communications Information System to Be Established in Azerbaijan

Accra:President Ilham Aliyev has signed an order to establish a new 'Digital Communications' information system aimed at enhancing the administration and user experience in telecommunications and postal services while advancing digitalization.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the system will be instrumental in regulatory oversight and supervision within the communications and information and communication technologies (ICT) sectors. It is designed to ensure efficiency, effectiveness, and transparency in dealings with government agencies, local self-government bodies, individuals, and legal entities.

The Ministry of Digital Development and Transport will own the system, with the Information and Communication Technologies Agency operating it. The ministry is tasked with taking necessary measures for the system's establishment, organization, development, and integration into the 'Government Cloud' as well as relevant state registries.

Within six months, the relevant data will be accessible through the Electronic Government Information System, in collaboration with the government agencies responsible for maintaining the original data sources. Additionally, the Cabinet of Ministers is responsible for addressing any issues arising from the order.
