According to the relevant instruction of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, search operations are being carried out in the liberated territories to identify possible graves of Azerbaijani citizens who went missing during the First Karabakh War, State Commission told APA.

As a result of search operations carried out in accordance with the testimony of witnesses of the hostages during the First Karabakh War, mass graves were found in the Edilli village of Khojavand region and in the territory of Fuzuli city and a team of specialists from relevant government agencies was involved in the exhumation process. During the initial excavations in the village Edilli body remains belonging to 6-7 people were found in the territory of Edilli village. The remains of some of the bodies found belong to the mass burials. According to eyewitnesses, the bodies of dozens of Azerbaijani servicemen and civilians killed during the occupation of settlements were brought to the village of Edilli in a military truck and buried in mass graves with the participation of Azerbaijani hostages. It is believed that there are several mass graves in the territory of village of Edilli. Search and exhumation works are carried out by the specialists.
