The hague: The photo exhibition titled 'East and West Together' by renowned photographer Etibar Jafarov has opened at the Christus Triumfatorkerk church in The Hague. The event is organized by the Azerbaijan-Netherlands 'Odlar Yurdu' Society, with support from the Coordination Council of Azerbaijanis in the Netherlands and the State Committee on Work with Diaspora.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the event commenced with the performance of the National Anthem of Azerbaijan and a moment of silence in memory of martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the country's lands. Firangiz Baghirova, Chairperson of the Azerbaijan-Netherlands 'Odlar Yurdu' Society, emphasized that the exhibition aims to promote Azerbaijani culture beyond national borders and reflects a synthesis of the country's modern and ancient history.
Dilara Abbasova, the Second Secretary of the Embassy of Azerbaijan in the Netherlands, highlighted Azerbaijan's role as a tolerant nation where Eastern and Western cultures intersect. She noted that this intersection of various religions and cultures is evident in the exhibition.
Photographer Etibar Jafarov explained that his recent work has focused on documenting Azerbaijani architecture and cultural heritage. He described the exhibition's title as embodying 'the unity of Western and Eastern architecture,' aiming to showcase Azerbaijan's rich architectural heritage and the harmony of Eastern and Western styles through photography.
Elsevar Mammadov, Chairman of the Coordination Council of Azerbaijanis in the Netherlands and Belgium, expressed gratitude to the exhibition's organizer and underscored the significance of such projects in Europe. He commended the high professionalism of the photographs and wished Jafarov success in future endeavors.
The photographs, showcasing the beauty of Azerbaijan, the architectural gems of Baku, and the unity of antiquity and modernity, garnered significant interest from visitors.
