«There will be no fuel shortage in Kyrgyzstan,» Deputy Minister of Economy and Commerce Nazarbek Malayev told 24.kg news agency.
According to him, difficulties with the transit of goods by rail through Kazakhstan arose earlier. The first to encounter this were flour millers who could not deliver grain. Then the issue was even raised at a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council. The issue was discussed at the level of prime ministers, and agreements were reached to resolve the problems.
«Kazakhstan has not introduced any legislative prohibitions on the transit of goods across its territory. There are difficulties due to the overloading of the railway. The Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan to Kazakhstan and the Deputy Director of Kyrgyz Temir Zholu national company are working on the spot on this issue. The Kazakh side has already begun to coordinate the transit of fuel and lubricants. 80 percent of applications have been approved for October,» Nazarbek Malaev said.
He noted that the Minister of Transport and the head of Kyrgyz Temir Zholu will go to Kazakhstan tomorrow to participate in an event. They will also discuss the difficulties that have arisen with their Kazakh colleagues.
«The issue of transit was discussed at the level of Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Bakyt Torobaev. He gave instructions to solve the problem. As of today, grain has already begun to arrive. There will be no problems with fuel either. We have a task group. It includes representatives of associations that have encountered problems and government agencies. Supply issues are resolved through this group. There will be no fuel shortage in Kyrgyzstan. Don’t worry. Active work is underway to solve problems at the level of authorized bodies,» Nazarbek Malaev concluded.
Earlier, the Association of Oil Traders reported that due to problems with fuel transit, a shortage of fuel and lubricants may arise in Kyrgyzstan in 20 days.
