Electricity prices skyrocket in the Czech Republic

In the Czech Republic, an explosive increase in electricity prices was recorded, hopes for an improvement in the situation are fading before our eyes, APA reports citing Lidovky newspaper .

This year, suppliers are paying for next year’s electricity three times what they paid in 2021.

A megawatt-hour of electricity for delivery next year now costs 194 euros, for 2024 it costs 141 euros, and for 2025 it costs 120 euros. Sales for 2026 started at 105 euros.

In general, in recent years, the cost of a megawatt-hour has fluctuated around 30-50 euros, the material says. The cost of gas has risen even more.

Deliveries for next year are sold for 93 euros, and for 69 euros for 2024. The average cost of gas in recent years has fluctuated around 15-20 euros.
