Emin Huseynov Emphasizes Resilient Urban Systems for Crisis Recovery

Aghdam: 'We must build better, smarter, and more resilient urban systems,' declared Emin Huseynov, Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan in the Aghdam, Fuzuli, and Khojavend districts. He made this statement during the event titled 'Housing at the Center of Crisis Recovery and Reconstruction,' which was part of the 13th Session of the United Nations World Urban Forum (WUF13).

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Huseynov stressed the importance of prioritizing housing, as it plays a crucial role in restoring dignity, stability, and trust within communities. He noted that when families return to safe homes, it triggers a chain reaction where schools reopen, local economies are revitalized, social connections are reestablished, and communities regain confidence in their future.

Huseynov further mentioned that a considerable number of former internally displaced persons (IDPs) have already moved back to their reconstructed communities. He expects this trend to continue, with many more returning in the coming years.
