Employees of the International Committee of the Red Cross visited Armenian citizens detained in Azerbaijan

In late June and early July, employees of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) again visited Armenian citizens detained in Azerbaijan. Private meetings were held with these individuals and contact was established with their families. This was reported to Turan by the head of the public relations department of the ICRC office in Azerbaijan, Ilaha Huseynova. ‘In accordance with its mandate, the ICRC assesses the treatment and conditions of detainees during such visits. The ICRC also makes it possible for people to re-establish or continue contact with their families. In accordance with ICRC procedures, comments and recommendations related to visits are communicated only to the detaining party,” she said. The ICRC spokesperson did not specify how many people were visited by the Red Cross during that period.
