Baku: Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, announced a proposal to establish an EU-Azerbaijan Connectivity Partnership. This initiative aims to leverage Azerbaijan's strategic geographical position and its expanding economic and political influence in the South Caucasus region.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, von der Leyen emphasized the strategic importance of the South Caucasus, highlighting its role as a crucial crossroads that links Europe, the Caspian region, and Central Asia. She noted that Azerbaijan is central to fostering regional cooperation and stability. The proposed partnership will focus on enhancing transport, energy, and digital connectivity, which will be pursued through a high-level connectivity dialogue between the EU and Azerbaijan.
