Baku: The European Union (EU) Delegation to Azerbaijan, in collaboration with the Embassies of the EU Member States, has launched the 'Squares of Europe' photo exhibition as part of the sixth edition of the 'FantazEU' Cultural Heritage Festival. The exhibition is a significant event that features photographs from various EU countries, showcasing both renowned and lesser-known squares that have historically served as cultural, historical, and social hubs.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the Embassies of Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czechia, France, Germany, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, and Sweden are participating in this exhibition. Each embassy has contributed photographs that highlight the richness and diversity of Europe's urban heritage through its iconic squares. This initiative aligns with the 'Year of Urban Planning and Architecture,' which Azerbaijan will observe in 2026.
EU Ambassador Marijana Kujundzic emphasized the importance of the exhibition, stating that it uniquely combines art, architecture, and cultural dialogue. The exhibition invites Azerbaijani residents to explore Europe's historical plazas and embark on a visual journey across the continent. The public can visit the exhibition starting February 10 on the first floor of the Crescent Mall located at 66 Neftchilar Avenue.
The FantazEU Cultural Heritage Festival will also feature other activities, including an exhibition of national costumes and ornaments, live arts workshops, and online city tours from EU countries. The Arts Council of Azerbaijan is offering organizational support for the event, under a contract financed by the European Union Delegation to Azerbaijan.
