Evidence of Illegal Resettlement in Azerbaijani Territories Confirmed in Court

Baku: Ongoing proceedings at the Baku Military Court on June 21 confirmed evidence of illegal resettlement in Azerbaijani territories formerly occupied by the Armenian armed forces, APA reports.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the court heard testimony from Bako Sahakyan, the former ‘leader’ of the so-called regime, who responded to questions from the state prosecutor. Sahakyan confirmed that foreign citizens from Syria, Lebanon, and other countries were systematically brought and resettled in these regions.

Sahakyan revealed that the ‘social defense ministry’ of the illegal regime managed this resettlement process. He acknowledged the strategic significance of the project due to a population decrease following the first war. However, he admitted that the settlement plan was not successfully completed.

The court proceedings continue against Armenian nationals who face charges of war crimes, crimes against humanity, genocide, aggression, terrorism, and violations of the laws of war. The charges also include financing terrorism, the violent seizure and retention of power, among other serious offenses.
