Khojavand: An improvised explosive device has been detected in the Khojavend district, APA reports. Based on a request received by the Mine Action Agency of The Republic of Azerbaijan through the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the agency’s employees discovered an improvised, surprise explosive device in one of the abandoned houses during operations conducted in the Bulutan village area of Khojavand district.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, during the operation in the mentioned area, an improvised explosive device was found, which had been set up using a PQ-7L rocket with 105 rounds of ammunition attached to it with adhesive tape and a hand grenade detonator, activated by a tripwire for an explosion. Additionally, numerous photographs were scattered around the explosive device to distract attention, with one of them being designed to trigger the tripwire when touched.

The explosive device was safely removed from the area by the agency’s employees. Such devices, placed in civilian areas and made to look like surprises, are intended to cause severe and deadly explosions.

ANAMA once again calls on citizens not to enter areas they are not sure are safe, not to touch unfamiliar objects, and to immediately report any suspicious items by calling the hotlines 805, 102, or 112.
