Baku: The export of construction materials produced in Azerbaijan to European Union countries is being studied, said Shahana Sari, the Secretary-General of the Azerbaijani Construction Materials Manufacturers Association (ATMIA), APA reports.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Sari mentioned that work is underway to export Azerbaijan’s construction materials to European countries through the Balkan Peninsula. She explained that the standards of materials for export to the European Union countries and logistics issues are currently being studied. Based on preliminary price research, exports may prove to be profitable.

She also commented on the impact of the Russia-Ukraine war on Azerbaijan’s construction sector. Sari stated that currently, there are no serious problems in trade with Russia. Efforts are being made to increase the export of Azerbaijan’s construction materials to Russia. A memorandum was signed a few months ago with the Russian Trade Mission. The volume of imports from Russia to Azerbaijan is threefold higher than the volume of exports from Azerbaijan to Russia, prompting systematic efforts to balance this trade.

Sari further stated that Central Asian countries are a target market for Azerbaijan. She highlighted existing trade agreements with these countries, which facilitate easier export processes for Azerbaijani companies. However, she noted that the transportation of construction products is challenging, affecting their profitability when exported from one country to another.
