A deportation of six Russian diplomats from Skopje will have a negative influence on relations between Russia and North Macedonia, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said in a statement on Saturday, APA reports citing TASS.

“The authorities of North Macedonia are still on the path of the West following the Russophobia sentiments, destroying a spiral of bilateral relations,” the statement reads.

“Another unmotivated provocation against our diplomats on behalf of our colleagues will certainly entail negative consequences in regard to relations between Russia and North Macedonia,” she added.

Zakharova also said that the Russian diplomatic mission would come up soon as possible with mirror measures in regard to North Macedonia’s announced measures earlier in the day.
