Lankaran: Two people lost their lives, and another sustained injuries in a severe road accident on the Lankaran-Astara highway in Azerbaijan. The incident occurred when a Mercedes Vito minibus collided with a Dong Feng truck, resulting in a tragic scene that prompted an immediate response from local emergency services.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Ministry of Emergency Situations received a call about the accident at the 154th kilometer of the highway, where two individuals were trapped inside the heavily damaged minibus. Rescuers from the ministry's Southern Regional Center were swiftly deployed to the accident site. Using specialized rescue equipment, they extracted the bodies of the victims, identified as Gulnaz Yusub Aghayeva, born in 1961, and Zaman Tarlan Nasirov, born in 1997. The remains were handed over to the relevant authorities for further investigation.

The crash, which occurred at around 9:20 p.m. on September 16, involved the minibus traveling toward Astara and colliding with the rear of the truck. The driver of the Mercedes Vito, Amid Ahmad Mammadov, born in 1984, managed to escape the accident uninjured. Meanwhile, the Dong Feng truck was driven by Aydin Riazi, a resident of Astara, Iran.

Police are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision. The Ministry of Emergency Situations has urged all drivers to adhere strictly to speed limits, consider road and weather conditions, maintain safe distances from other vehicles, and overtake only when it is safe to do so.

In addition to the fatalities, Gulnara Suleyman Huseynova, born in 1978, suffered serious injuries and was transported to an intensive care unit for treatment. The investigation into the accident continues as authorities seek to understand the full details of the incident and prevent future occurrences.
