Film by Aibek Daiyrbekov «The Smell of Wormwood» won the Grand Prix at the International Film Festival in Bremen city (Germany). Kyrgyzcinema.com website reports.

Ten films from the USA, India, Israel, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and other countries participated in the international competition «German Premiere». The winner was determined by a hybrid voting of the audience and the jury.

«The Smell of Wormwood» film received the highest points among all the participants of the international competition of the Bremen Film Festival.

The world premiere of Aibek Daiyrbekov’s new film «The Smell of Wormwood» took place at the 27th International Film Festival in the Korean city of Busan.

«The Smell of Wormwood» was filmed by Central Asia Film company with the support of the Department of Cinematography and technical assistance of Kyrgyzfilm National Film Studio named after Tolomush Okeyev. The scriptwriter and director of the film is Aibek Daiyrbekov.

The drama is about three teenagers living in a remote village.
