Gdynia:The film 'Steps in Silence,' produced by the Baku Media Center, has received a 'Special Mention from the Jury' award at the NNW International Film Festival, one of Europe's prestigious film events.
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, the 18th edition of the festival was held in Gdynia, Poland, featuring 60 films from around the world. The film was co-produced by the Baku Media Center, Drygas Film Production, and Polish Television (TVP), with financial support from the Ministry of Culture, the Cinema Agency, and the Polish Film Institute. It focuses on demining operations in the liberated territories of Garabagh.
The film's main characters are women engaged in demining, depicted as caring mothers and elegant women in addition to their risky and responsible activity. Their daily lives, filled with the struggle between willpower, elegance, strength, and the tension between death and survival, are portrayed through profound silence.
Arzu Aliyeva, Head of the Baku Media Center, is the executive producer, while Vita Salakeviciute (Poland) serves as co-producer. Orman Aliyev is the producer, and Fariz Ahmadov is the director. The screenplay was written by Ismail Iman and Fariz Ahmadov, with Mateusz Czuchnowski as the cinematographer, Rasim Ismayilov as the editor, and creative producers Maciej Drigas (Poland) and Tahir Aliyev.
Previously, this feature-length documentary by Fariz Ahmadov won the 'Best Visual Design' award at the 66th Krak³w Film Festival. It is also scheduled to be screened at the 'Astra' Film Festival in Romania from October 17-25.
The presentation of Azerbaijani cinema on international platforms plays a crucial role in promoting the country's cultural heritage and documentary potential worldwide.
