Final Declaration Adopted at Baku Dialogue on Missing Persons

Baku:The final declaration of the 4th International Conference within the framework of the Baku Dialogue on the topic of 'Strengthening Trust and Developing Effective Mechanisms in Addressing the Issue of Missing Persons' has been adopted.

According to Azeri-Press news agency, the document outlines the outcomes of the conference discussions, emphasizing shared priorities such as strengthening trust, enhancing humanitarian cooperation, and creating effective mechanisms to clarify the fate of missing persons.

The declaration calls on states to implement measures to prevent disappearances, search for missing individuals, provide families with pertinent information, and urges international organizations, particularly the United Nations, to assist in establishing a mechanism specifically for those missing due to armed conflict.

The conference program will continue with a visit to Karabakh on October 9 and 10. This visit aims to provide insight into the humanitarian consequences of the conflict, the conditions for conducting searches, and the challenges related to mines and unexploded ordnance. Participants will also visit the Khojaly Memorial Complex, Shusha, and Lachin, and have the opportunity to observe reconstruction efforts in the liberated territories.
