First Day of International Conference Celebrating 100th Anniversary of First Turkological Congress Concludes in Baku

Baku: The first day of the international scientific conference on the theme 'Founders and Traditions of the First Turkological Congress: History and Modernity' marking the 100th anniversary of the First Turkological Congress concluded in Baku on Friday. Event participants explored the database dedicated to the First Turkological Congress, a virtual exhibition, and books published by the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS) in the foyer of the ANAS Presidium.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, ANAS President, Academician Isa Habibbayli emphasized that the reports and discussions during the conference will stimulate the development of Turkology and provide opportunities for scientific partnership among participants. Professor Abdurrahman Aliy, President of the Yunus Emre Institute of Trkiye, highlighted the congress as a milestone in the cultural integration of Turkic peoples, rooted in shared history.

A film dedicated to the First Turkological Congress was screened, followed by Deputy Minister of Culture Farid Jafarov's remarks on the congress's role in emphasizing the Turkic world's legacy and its strategic cultural foundations. Speakers at the conference stressed the significance of analyzing the First Turkological Congress through a modern scientific lens and its impact on intellectual unity and research.

Panel discussions continued the event, featuring presentations by scientists from Azerbaijan, Trkiye, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Kyrgyzstan, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), and other countries. Participants representing various global scientific schools shared insights on current research challenges.

The conference will proceed on February 28 at Khazar University, where a special symposium will commemorate the centenary of the First Turkological Congress.
