Tbilisi: First Lady of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva visited the Georgian National Museum in Tbilisi on April 6, APA reports. The visit highlighted the cultural connections between Azerbaijan and Georgia through a presentation of historical and modern exhibits.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the Georgian National Museum showcases exhibits from different periods of Georgia's history. One of the key attractions is the 'Stone Age in Georgia' exhibition, which includes significant archaeological finds, such as human remains and tools from Dmanisi, dating back approximately 1.8 million years. Another notable exhibition, 'Archaeological Treasure,' features rare jewelry items discovered in Georgia, ranging from the 3rd millennium BC to the 4th century AD.

During her visit, First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva gifted a collection titled 'A New Look at Cultural Heritage' to the museum. This collection comprises five rare carpets produced by 'Azerkhalcha,' offering modern interpretations of ancient carpet designs. The carpets include 'Nakhchivan,' 'Achma-yumma,' 'Garabagh,' 'Bandi-Rumi,' and 'Ovchulug' ('Hunting'), each reflecting a blend of classical motifs and Eastern artistic traditions. The 'Pazirik' carpet stands out as a modern rendition of the world's oldest pile carpet, boasting a history of 2,500 years.

The museum's leadership expressed their gratitude to First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva for the generous gift, acknowledging the cultural significance and the strengthening of ties between the two nations.
