Khojaly: The first reunion of graduates of the Khojaly City Secondary School No. 1 has taken place, marking a significant gathering for those who studied at the institution in the 1980s and 1990s.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the event was initiated by Khojaly resident Sariyya Muslumgizi, a former teacher at the school. The reunion brought together graduates and teachers from decades past to reconnect and reflect on their shared history.
Participants began the event with a visit to Khojaly Martyrs’ Alley, where they paid respects to the martyrs with a moment of silence. Discussions at the gathering included reflections on the Khojaly genocide, a tragic event carried out by Armenian armed groups in February 1992, which continues to impact the collective memory of those affected.
During her address, Muslumgizi spoke of the pride associated with the name of free Khojaly and highlighted the return of life to the city as people reclaim their homeland. The gathering was described as a celebration of both memory and pride, reinforcing the significance of the community’s resilience and revival.
Concluding the event, attendees emphasized the value of regular reunions and expressed a commitment to the restoration and development of Khojaly, focusing on nurturing future generations on their ancestral lands.
