Flights Bound for the UAE Diverted to Baku Airport Due to Airspace Restriction

Baku: Two flights headed to the United Arab Emirates were redirected to Heydar Aliyev International Airport following a temporary restriction of airspace over Iranian territory. The Azerbaijan Airlines (AZAL) confirmed this development to the Azeri-Press News Agency (APA).

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the incident involved an Air Arabia flight on the Moscow-Sharjah route. The flight’s captain requested an emergency landing at Heydar Aliyev International Airport. The Airbus A320 aircraft successfully landed at 19:43 local time. In a separate incident, a FlyDubai flight scheduled from Baku to Dubai had to return shortly after taking off at 18:14, also landing safely at Heydar Aliyev International Airport at 19:30 local time.

Despite these diversions, operations at Baku Airport continue as usual. The airport remains fully functional, managing aircraft reception and ground handling in line with international aviation safety standards.
