Baku: Azerbaijan's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jeyhun Bayramov, addressed the Informal Meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) on March 7, emphasizing the organization's growing role in fostering political dialogue and cooperation among its member states.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Minister Bayramov highlighted the increasing importance of solidarity, coordination, and strategic vision among the OTS countries in light of rising geopolitical tensions and global uncertainties. He noted the significant progress made by the OTS in strengthening political dialogue, expanding economic partnerships, and enhancing regional connectivity throughout the Turkic world.

The Minister also expressed grave concerns over the escalating security situation, citing recent military developments in the Middle East. He condemned the rocket attack targeting Trkiye and Iran's drone strikes against Azerbaijan's Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. Furthermore, he reaffirmed Azerbaijan's support for a just and lasting resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, based on international law and a two-state solution.

Addressing the Azerbaijan-Armenia peace process, Minister Bayramov reiterated Azerbaijan's commitment to normalization and lasting peace in the South Caucasus following the Washington Summit of August 8, 2025. He underscored the need for the elimination of territorial claims against Azerbaijan, as outlined in Armenia's constitution, to achieve full normalization of relations and sustainable peace.

Minister Bayramov also outlined Azerbaijan's priorities as Chair of the OTS, focusing on strengthening institutional capacity, advancing the OTS+ cooperation format with external partners, and promoting future initiatives and events. These include the Second Meeting of the Prime Ministers/Vice Presidents of the OTS and the 100th anniversary of the historic First Turcological Congress, aimed at deepening cooperation across the Turkic world.

Furthermore, the Minister emphasized that the UN World Urban Forum (WUF13), set to occur in Baku this May, will enhance international cooperation through active engagement from the OTS member states.
