Baku: The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Trkiye, Hakan Fidan, held an expanded meeting with the participation of delegations from both countries, as reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on X, according to APA reports. The meeting aimed to strengthen the strategic allied relations established under the leadership of their Presidents and outlined in the Shusha Declaration.
According to Azeri-Press News Agency, the discussions encompassed a wide range of topics, including political dialogue, economic and trade relations, investment, energy, transport and logistics, security and defense, humanitarian cooperation, and collaboration within international and regional organizations. Both Ministers underscored the significance of institutional mechanisms like the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council and the Intergovernmental Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation in enhancing bilateral ties.
The meeting also involved an exchange of views on cooperation within prominent international organizations such as the UN, Organization of Turkic States, OIC, OSCE, ECO, CICA, and D-8. The Ministers acknowledged the role of trilateral and quadrilateral formats, including Azerbaijan-Georgia-Trkiye, Azerbaijan-Pakistan-Trkiye, and Azerbaijan-Uzbekistan-Trkiye, in promoting regional security, economic development, and connectivity.
The Ministers reviewed the progress made in the normalization of Azerbaijan-Armenia relations over the past year and discussed practical steps toward achieving lasting peace and regional cooperation. The discussions also covered developments in the Middle East and other regions, new geopolitical realities, and ongoing conflicts, with both sides reaffirming their shared belief in resolving disputes through political and diplomatic means.
In addition to the expanded meeting, Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov had a private meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, who is on an official visit to Azerbaijan. This visit, as noted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan on X, demonstrates the strong strategic partnership and allied relations between the two nations.
