Representatives of diplomatic corps in Azerbaijan have visited Gazanci church in Shusha, within the framework of the visit to Shusha, APA reports.

The diplomats have been informed about the history of the church.

Special representative of Azerbaijani President in Shusha Aydin Karimov noted that the construction of the church was completed in 1887.

The special representative noted that one of the first decisions of the Russian empire in the middle of the 19th century was the resettlement of Armenians in Karabakh, Armenians settled in Shusha too.

Assistant to Azerbaijani President Hikmat Hajiyev noted that currently, repair and restoration works are being conducted in the church, the aim is to return church to its pre-occupation situation and put it at the service of people.

H. Hajiyev has also said that Armenia destroyed religious monuments belonging to Azerbaijan during 30 years of occupation.
