Foreign Direct Investment in Azerbaijan’s Non-Oil Sector Surpasses $1.4 Billion

Baku: Foreign direct investment in Azerbaijan's non-oil sector increased by 6.1% in 2025, reaching $1 billion 441 million, Samir Nasirov, Director of the Statistics Department of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA), said, APA-Economics reports.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Nasirov noted that while the portfolio investment item is currently in deficit, this deficit is attributed to the increase in the assets part of the country's portfolio. State and private enterprises operating in Azerbaijan, alongside oil and gas sector companies, banks, and investment firms, have directed substantial portfolio investments abroad. These investments have predominantly been channeled into US government debt securities, commonly known as US Treasuries.

This notable rise in portfolio investments is expected to bolster the surplus in the primary income account of the current account balance in the upcoming periods. Meanwhile, there have been minimal changes observed on the liabilities side.
