Baku: Initiatives such as the Global South NGO Platform are of great importance for discussing global challenges, said Luis Gallegos, President of the Advisory Board of the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and former Foreign Minister of Ecuador, during the opening ceremony of the first General Assembly of the Global South NGO Platform held within the framework of 'Baku Urban Week,' APA reports. He highly appreciated Azerbaijan's role in strengthening cooperation among Global South countries.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Luis Gallegos also drew attention to the importance of the meeting held in Baku, stating that such platforms are of great importance for discussing global challenges. He emphasized the significance of these discussions in addressing the realities facing the world today.

Furthermore, Gallegos proposed exploring the possibility of transforming the Global South Platform into the NGO network of the Non-Aligned Movement. This suggestion highlights the potential for further collaboration and unity among the countries in the Global South, aiming to address shared challenges and opportunities on a global scale.
