Former Norwegian Prime Minister: UN Reform Essential for Sustainable Global Order

Baku: 'The world today faces international chaos rather than order. The post-World War II international framework - including the United Nations, human rights conventions, and other international bodies - has lost much of its strength,' said Kjell Magne Bondevik, former Prime Minister of Norway, during the panel session titled 'Global Security and Balance of Power: Respect for International Law - New Issues, New Challenges' held as part of the Global Baku Forum.

According to Azerbaijan State News Agency, Kjell Magne Bondevik also highlighted the shortcomings of the United Nations Security Council, describing its current composition as outdated and unfair. 'Africa, Latin America, and the Arab world have no permanent seats. This creates imbalance rather than a true balance of power. To achieve a sustainable international order and equitable power distribution, reform of the United Nations is essential. The Security Council must be reorganized,' he emphasized.
