Baku: Azerbaijan’s former Prosecutor General, Justice Minister, and Chairman of the Adalat Party, Ilyas Ismayilov, has passed away at the age of 87, his relatives told APA.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, Ilyas Ismayilov had been admitted to the intensive care unit of the Central Clinical Hospital some time ago. His career in public service was notable, having served as the Republic’s Prosecutor from 1985 to 1990 and as the Minister of Justice from 1992 to 1995.

Ilyas Ismayilov was also a member of the Milli Majlis (Parliament) during its 3rd and 4th convocations. Since 2001, he had been leading the Adalat Party as its chairman, contributing to Azerbaijan’s political landscape.
