Free Public Transit for Accredited Participants at COP29 Announced

BAKU: Accredited attendees of the upcoming COP29 summit in Azerbaijan will enjoy free public transportation, as announced by the Director of Transportation at the COP29 Operating Company, Orkhan Mahmudlu.

According to Trend News Agency, during a media tour at the Baku Olympic Stadium, Mahmudlu revealed plans to alter metro schedules to accommodate the event but confirmed that no special transit cards would be required. “Accredited participants, including both foreign guests and local attendees, will simply use their accreditation cards to access the transport services,” he explained. This move is part of Azerbaijan’s commitment as the host country to ensure safe and efficient transportation for all guests.

The 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change is scheduled for November. The conference was designated to Azerbaijan during the COP28 plenary in Dubai last December. The UN Framework Convention, established in 1992, aims to combat harmful human
impacts on the climate, with COP serving as its supreme decision-making body. The convention now includes 198 countries, with meetings held annually since the first in Berlin, 1995.
