G7 countries will accelerate the transition to clean energy

The leaders of the “Big Seven” countries agreed to accelerate the transition to clean energy while strengthening economic security, which will help to cope with the current energy crisis, the G7 communique adopted in Hiroshima following the summit. “In order to solve the problems of the current energy crisis and achieve our common goal of zero emissions by 2050 at the latest, we emphasize the real and urgent need and opportunity to accelerate the transition to clean energy while improving energy security,” the statement said. The G7 invited the International Energy Agency to make recommendations by the end of the year on ways to diversify the supply of energy and critical minerals, as well as on the production of clean energy. The G 7 reaffirmed their commitment to achieving full or predominantly decarbonization of the energy sector by 2030.
