Gas prices in Europe ended the week at below $340

The price of gas futures in Europe increased by 1% by the close of Friday (May 19), but remained below $ 340 per thousand cubic meters for the second day in a row, data from the London ICE exchange. June (upcoming) futures on the TTF index (Europe’s largest hub located in the Netherlands) opened trading at $334 per thousand cubic meters (+0.4%). The price minimum was $332.6 (-0.1%), the maximum was $343.5 (+3.2%), and the closing price was $336 (+1%). The dynamics of quotations is given from the estimated price of the previous trading day – $ 332.8 per thousand cubic meters. Exchange prices for gas in Europe have been declining since the end of last year. On May 18, for the first time in more than a year and a half – since June 2021 – they fell below $ 350 per thousand cubic meters. This is by ten times lower than the record values of the first days of spring last year – almost $ 3,900 per thousand cubic meters.
