Baku: In the first quarter of this year, Azerbaijan's main gas pipelines transported 11,125.1 million cubic meters of gas, marking a 3.3% increase compared to the same period last year. The State Statistical Committee provided this information to APA-Economics, highlighting the significant role of the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum South Caucasus Pipeline in these operations.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, 50.8% of the gas transported was via the South Caucasus Pipeline, which carries gas produced from the Shah Deniz gas-condensate field. During the reporting period, 5,653.4 million cubic meters of gas were moved through this pipeline, reflecting a 3.8% increase.

Last year, the total gas transportation through Azerbaijan's main pipelines was 40,235.6 million cubic meters, a 0.3% decrease from the previous year. Despite the overall decline, the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum South Caucasus Pipeline accounted for 57.5% of the gas transportation, with 23,143.9 million cubic meters transported, indicating a 1.3% increase during that period.
