Baku: Solar activity will be high on June 4. A geomagnetic storm is expected, the Department of Astrophysics of the Faculty of Physics at Baku State University (BSU) told APA.

According to Azeri-Press News Agency, alongside regular C-class (weak) solar flares occurring on the Sun's surface, M-class (R1-R2 - weak to moderate) flares and a coronal mass ejection (CME) have also occurred. As a result, the plasma mass is forecast to pass near Earth in the middle of June.

It was reported that a G1-level geomagnetic storm with a Kp index of 5 will occur after 15:00 on June 4. This will continue until the morning hours of June 5. Around midnight (between 00:00 and 03:00 on June 5), the storm is forecast to reach a Kp index of 6.

After 09:00 on June 5, the geomagnetic storm is expected to return to a quiet background level. The process may have an impact on devices operating in Earth orbit.
